MSc MSE: AY20/21 Sem 2 Module Review

Not very sure if anyone would find these reviews useful anymore since it's for post-grads and I think most people just take stuff that they are already working on at work, but I'll still keep this series going. We're in mid-June now and results came out on 1 June this time. Found some time to consolidate my thoughts and I guess, this semester was harder than before (though I think it's still not as bad as Year 2 Sem 2, that was a horrible sem). We're still on the COVID work from home period so lessons were still conducted online but we did have a chance to attend some face-to-face classes if the class size < 50.

Editor's Note:
Funny how this post started in June but finally completed it in December, right before we get our results for the next semester.

*Disclaimer: Due to the COVID-19 situation that happened during this semester, the grading for modules were modified to meet the Work-from-home requirements and it might not be continued in the future.

MSc MSE: AY20/21 Sem 1 Module Review

And so I decided that further studies is the way to go in this horrible pandemic-struck economy. After getting my Bachelor's in June, I somehow got convinced to go for a part-time Master's degree in Material Sciences & Engineering. The people around probably know that I wasn't really considering this degree and was leaning a lot of into Forensics, Food Sciences and Public Health. But somehow or another, I decided that the 4 years of torture in Engineering was not enough and decided to get back into the game. Maybe there was this part in me that thought that since I had an Engineering degree, it wouldn't be too hard for me to handle it at a Master's level, especially since I took 5k mods at an undergraduate level. Oh boy, I was so very wrong.

Stepping into the module with zero prior knowledge was a terrible mistake. I found myself struggling to catch up with work and eventually there was a point in time where I just gave up on trying to understand and every lecture was just going through the motion and attempting to digest what had been taught. So now that I've decided not to drop out after my results were released, here's the review for this semester (because I could find almost no information on these post-grad modules and felt that people coming in should be more informed on what they are getting themselves into.

Throwback 2020

Oh 2020, you came so fast and flew away even faster.
Remember 1 year ago, I was writing this throwback post, lamenting the fact that I had forgotten to write about 2017 or 2018 cuz I was too busy with life. Well, for this year, life had been too busy for itself. It's time to take a trip down memory lane and look at the highlights of 2020~

P.S. With everything that was happening throughout the year, I think I might have mixed up the timeline here and there.

Module Review: Final Year Project

Not too sure if this a long awaited post, but it sure is a late one. Have been wanting to prepare this entry since the start of the circuit breaker season but procrastination had really got to me. Hopefully this can still be slightly useful to anyone who might be still deciding on FYP projects or in the midst of your project.

Year 4 Sem 2 Module Review

Finally decided to spend some time working on this category of posts. This is the final one in the series #ORDLO so let's keep this short and sweet.

This final semester, besides the mandatory FYP which I had been working on since Sem 1 (unofficially working on it since Year 3 Sem 1 hahah), I decided to do the bare minimum to clear graduation requirements. So 12MCs of Technical Electives (TEs)out of the very limited list of TEs available for BME students. Let's get to this

Throwback 2019

And so, time flew right by....
Didn't find the time to write a 2017 or a 2018 throwback post and soon it's the end of 2019 already.

These 3 years have been pretty tough to go by to be really honest. Can't really remember what happened in 2017. Let's see what we did in 2017. Year 1 Sem 2, mostly studying, doing EnginClub stuff and preparing for a crazy summer. Summer really was crazy, did a lot of camp related stuff (From BME camp, ECE Camp, RAG camp and finally RAG), a lot of stupid things, nearly lost a close friend... Then came Year 2 Sem 1. Managed to really do horribly in the semester and then it's the end of 2017.

A lot happened in 2018 and 2019 just went by in a flash and all I did was pretty much clearing school related things.

2018 was a pretty eventful year. 21st birthday, lost my Ah Ma soon after, then came a year of rushing around hospitals and finally losing Ah Gong in December. Honestly, I don't really remember what happened in 2018 besides all these events. I spent too much time dealing with all the emotional ups and downs throughout the year that I pretty much didn't touch social media, let alone this blog. All I can say is 2018 was pretty horrible despite it supposedly being the "best" year of my life turned out to be a disaster so for 2019 I was really hoping for the best.

Now for the real 2019 throwback. 2019 was pretty eventful as well, had many new experiences and did many new things. So let's go on this throwback journey before I forget what happened and push this to a later date due to procrastination.
