Throwback 2023

And the 2023 season has come to an end. Started off this post on 30 December but guess what it’s already almost end Feb. Looks like I really need to start writing throughout the year so that I have this ready before 31 December. Anyways I guess it’s a good start that I’m finally off the procrastination and working on this before half the year goes by. *I guess this is something I need to work on and complete before I start off on my next journey. But that obviously failed as we see how late this post was completed*

Throwback 2022

It's time of the year again for our yearly throwback. Just as with the past 2 years, this year flew by. Even though we've removed most of our COVID restrictions, we're still 'in the midst of a pandemic' so in Dec'22 almost 3 years since the discovery of this stupid virus, we're still wearing our masks on public transport. On the bright side, we're also returning to normal. This year we finally get to have large gatherings (e.g. concerts, commencements) and we get to travel without quarantine requirements (for some places).

2022 has been a year of changes, recovery, and pretty much a mess if I look back at it now.

Now let's get this throwback done before the clock strikes 12

*wouldn't want to delay this till 2023 Q3 again*

Here we go~

MSc MSE : AY21/22 Sem 2

Well, it's almost time for module selection season and I'm finally updating this review for AY2021/22 Sem 2. This will be my final module review since I'm finally graduating for good (I hope, unless I decide to take on another post-grad degreee/PhD?). Similar to the previous semester, I was working while trying to clear my final 3 modules of my MSc and lucky/unlucky for me I managed to get a mod taught by my boss, so that made my life slightly easier, yet there were expectations to be met. Aside to this being my last semester, it will also likely be the last semester that NUS will hold modules online in view of the improving COVID-19 situation. That means the mark allocation and grading requirements might change for modules again, On the bright side, at least you will get to meet your peers. One of the saddest things throughout my MSc life is that I never once met with any of my course mates, well in fact, I have never seen anyone in person, so that's pretty sad. All in all, this MSc journey had not been easy, but we made it.

Here you go, the final review

*Disclaimer: Due to the COVID-19 situation that happened during this semester, the grading for modules were modified to meet the Work-from-home requirements and it might not be continued in the future.

Throwback 2021

Good'day everyone
Time flies and boom we're at the end of 2021 already!? It's really been a year of ups and downs again, and COVID really didn't help slow it down. With all the opening and closing, restrictions on travel and eating-out, I realised I've kinda lost track of the things that happened. It feels like almost everyday it's just looking at the calendar and checking when will the government allow us to dine in groups of 2/5/8 again. With all these said, let's start our recap of this year...

*This post was meant to be a recap of 2021 to be completed by 31/12 yet I am writing it now as Q3 begins for 2022. It's been a busy year and work + school really ain't treating me ell. So for now let's try to finish this before the year ends.

And so 2021 begins...

MSc MSE: AY21/22 Sem 1

Once again I'm back with another set of module reviews. This was suppose to come out earlier or at least before the previous one, but due to some super unforeseen laptop crashing, I'm only writing this so late into the holidays.

Not sure if I mentioned this already in my previous posts, but MSc coursework programs for part time students are normally 2.5 years long (aka 5 semesters) but in view of my impending unemployment, I've decided to try to finish my Masters within 2 years. That entails me doing 3 mods each for the remaining 2 semesters and after this semester, I can safely say that it was a very bad idea. Not only has the workload increased exponentially, it's also a lot of stress working on multiple projects, trying to not fail my quizzes and managing work-life balance. So if you are intending to pull of such a stunt, my advice is make sure you have enough vacation leave so that you can have at least 2 weeks to chiong your studies.

*Disclaimer: Due to the COVID-19 situation that happened during this semester, the grading for modules were modified to meet the Work-from-home requirements and it might not be continued in the future.

MSc MSE: AY20/21 Sem 2 Module Review

Not very sure if anyone would find these reviews useful anymore since it's for post-grads and I think most people just take stuff that they are already working on at work, but I'll still keep this series going. We're in mid-June now and results came out on 1 June this time. Found some time to consolidate my thoughts and I guess, this semester was harder than before (though I think it's still not as bad as Year 2 Sem 2, that was a horrible sem). We're still on the COVID work from home period so lessons were still conducted online but we did have a chance to attend some face-to-face classes if the class size < 50.

Editor's Note:
Funny how this post started in June but finally completed it in December, right before we get our results for the next semester.

*Disclaimer: Due to the COVID-19 situation that happened during this semester, the grading for modules were modified to meet the Work-from-home requirements and it might not be continued in the future.
